R&D Director
Bart Metselaar joined LIPOSOMA in 2018 as Scientific Advisor and became Pharmacist | Director R&D and Manufacturing in 2019. He holds a Doctoral, PharmD, and PhD from the University of Utrecht, with research focused on liposomal formulations for inflammation, and completed an internship in pharmacology at the University of Florida.
In 2005, he founded Enceladus Pharmaceuticals, where he advanced innovative liposomal drugs for arthritis, bowel, and eye diseases from concept to clinical trials, securing grants, awards, investments, and industry partnerships. Since 2012, Bart has been Associate Professor of Advanced Drug Delivery at the University of Twente and, since 2015, Group Leader at RWTH Aachen, expanding research into liposomal nanomedicines for cancer treatment.
Internationally recognized as a leading expert on liposomes, Bart ranks among the top researchers in the field (Expertscape) and holds an H-index of 29.
